our story

luckydog day & night care was created in 2004 by Mandie Stuhan. It is named after her dog Lucky, a now 11 year old Vizsla. Mandie's vision is to offer an unmatched level of professional care for each and every guest... and that vision is realized everyday at luckydog.

"I created this business and built it based on many of my own personal values. At luckydog we treat clients' dogs how I would want my own dogs to be treated: with individualized care, professionalism, patience and respect." Mandie Stuhan

Kristin, Lead Handler & Employee Education Director

Kristen has worked as a luckydog dog handler since June 2007. Kristen grew up in Coos Bay Oregon and moved to Eugene to attend Lane Community College. Kristen has shown outstanding leadership skills and a great big heart for all of our canine companions. Kristen plays a big role in a healthy and safe daycare. Her job encompasses new dog evaluations, employee continuing education, teaching Puppy Start Right and customer service. What she loves most about her job is learning about animal behavior and psychology and growing through the connections with the dogs and their people. In her free time Kristen loves to paint, hike with her dog Vinnie, surf, write, and play video games.

Sandy, New Client Coordinator/Front Desk Extraordinaire

Sandy joined the luckydog pack in February 2007. Her first career was spent working with humans, and now her second is with our luckydogs! She loves being greeted each morning with a wag of the tail, and maybe a lick on the cheek. The dogs are always happy and ready to have a great time playing - and the dog owners are also special! You can tell how much they love their pet and make them a part of their family. Luckydog has been a wonderful experience for Sandy. She has learned so much about how to teach dogs good behavior, but at the same time have fun.

Katie, Senior Dog Handler

Katie is an outstanding dog handler. She has a great energy about her and absolutely loves her job, and, as a result, the dogs love her. Katie is music major at Lane Community College (and a straight A student) plays the guitar, and is songwriter and all around music enthusiast. She paints, reads, and is learning to play the piano and clarinet. What Katie loves most about her job is getting to know the dogs and cuddling with them.

Lindsey, New Client Coordinator/Front Desk Extraordinaire

We were so happy to find Lindsey and welcome her to our luckydog family. Lindsey comes to luckydog with lots of doggie experience (having worked for a local competitor). Lindsey was quick to pick-up the lucky dog techniques and fits right in. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know each and every dog, their personality and then learning to successfully communicate with them. In her free time she adores her dachshunds Penny and Peso, taking them on hikes and to the dog park. She also enjoys reading, scrap booking and collecting movies.

Justin, Captain Adventure and Lead Dog Walker

Justin joined the luckydog pack in July of 2010. He has lived in Springfield since the age of 7, and graduated from Springfield High School in 2007. As one of six children - three sisters and two brothers - Justin is used to a lot of activity and he enjoys playing with and caring for our luckydogs. His hobbies include sports, fishing, hiking and hanging out with friends. He has one cute little dog named Kye, who is a 10-year-old Pomeranian.

Katherine, Dog Handler

Katherine has lived in Eugene for almost 4 years. She has always had a love for animals having had worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center and a shelter volunteer. Katherine hopes to expand her knowledge in animal behavior in hopes of becoming a veterinary technician. Katherine loves working with animals and has never been happier.

Kristin, Dog Handler

Kristin is a senior at the U of O majoring in Family and Human Services, minoring in Women and Gender Studies. Kristin has a four yr. old golden retriever named Ruby and on her time off she enjoys hiking, biking, and going to various dogs parks. Kristin also participates in a U of O club sport, Womens Water Polo.

Andy, Handler

I am currently at Lane CC studying my EMT/Paramedic certification. I then plan to transfer to University of Oregon and study physical therapy as well as play lacrosse for the Ducks. I have a cat named King Leonidas or Leo for short. He is the love of my life as well as my nightmare.

Luke, Handler

Luke is studying English and Education at LCC. He loves to read, write, garden, play music, and go camping. Luke has two cats and a golden retriever, Elsie, who lives in Illinois; but he definitely gets his fill of dog pack fun at Luckydog!

Cassidy, Pet Stylist

Cassidy loves animals of all kinds and has volunteered at Greenhill Humane Society and the Cascade Raptor Center. He currently owns two dogs, a 3–year old lab mix named Rowdy and a 2-year old wiener dog mix named Roxie. See if you can spot them around daycare!
