Guidelines & Policies
Luckydog Policies
Luckydog is committed to providing the best dog daycare and boarding experience in the Eugene and Springfield area. This means we require that all of our clients comply with the following policies to ensure the health and safety of your pet and of our other guests.
Health and Initial Requirements:
• Completion of online customer profile
• No open wounds or sutures
• Free of any contagious illness
• Flea and tick control (such as Trifexis)
• Negative fecal Ova & Parasite test (within 4 weeks for new dogs and annually for existing customers)
• All dogs over the age of 6 months must be spayed/neutered. If daycare begins at 4 months, they must be spayed/neutered by the age of 6 months (this has to do with pack dynamics and reproduction concerns).
Current in the following vaccinations:
– Bordetella (Canine Cough)
– Rabies (by 6 months of age)
– DHPP (Distemper/Parvo)
– A negative fecal Ova & Parasite test (within 4 weeks for new dogs and annually for existing customers)
While not required at this time, Canine Influenza (CIV) and Leptospirosis are strongly recommended
Health
All dogs must be in good health. Owners will need to verify that their dog(s) are in good health and have not been ill in the last 14 days.
On admission, all dogs must be free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize the health and safety of other dogs or themselves. This includes open wounds and/or sutures. Dogs that have been ill with a communicable condition in the last 14 days will require veterinarian certification of health in order to be admitted or readmitted.
Once admitted, please alert staff to any change in your dog’s health that requires medication, even if Luckydog is not to be required to administer it. If your dog is not feeling well, i.e. vomiting or diarrhea, please do not bring him/her Luckydog Day & Night Care for daycare or boarding.
Behavior
Owners will need to verify that their dog(s) have not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behavior towards any person or other dog(s). Dogs that exhibit any aggressive behavior or show signs of excessive stress will be removed from the open play environment and staff will discuss options or alternatives to daycare.
Orientation
All of our dogs and their owners are required to participate in an initial Orientation. During this meet and greet we will give you and your dog a tour of the facility and we will discuss all of the services we offer and find out how we can best meet your needs. This appointment usually takes about 20 minutes to complete. Please bring your pup with you!
New Dog Half Day
Once the orientation is complete and all vaccination/fecal requirements have been met, your dog can be introduced into our pack. This first visit is a short, early morning, 2.5-hour playdate where we can gain insight into how your pup may integrate with our pack and interact with staff.
All dogs must be at least 4 months of age. Puppies and recently adopted dogs must be in the home for 4 weeks prior to coming to daycare or lodging. A new dog half-day must be completed before a full day of daycare can be scheduled.
Dogs new to daycare & lodging are required to sign up for our Enrichment Club upon enrolling in daycare. This includes dogs that have not been to Luckydog in six months. Enrichment Club provides one-on-one mental & physical stimulating activities with our Enrichment Club Leaders and your canine companion. This additional service gives your pup a break from daycare & allows for individualized attention & care to set them up for success!
If your dog has not been to Luckydog in over 6 months, they must be reintroduced to the pack with a half-day of daycare and are required to sign up for Enrichment Club (2 day monthly membership minimum).
In an attempt to offer the best lodging experience for your dog(s), we require that they attend daycare a minimum of 2 days per month and are enrolled in Enrichment Club with a minimum 2 day monthly membership. New dogs must successfully complete a new dog half-day, one full daycare day, and one trial lodging night before they can book an extended lodging stay (more than one night). AM check-in is required for all lodging dogs. This process helps to ensure a more comfortable stay for your dog as well as the rest of the dogs in our care.
