Dear Pet Parents,
We are reaching out to provide the latest information on the atypical canine infectious respiratory disease that has affected Willamette Valley and beyond this year. As you likely know there have been a number of local media stories in the last few days which has prompted many questions and concerns within our pet community.
At Luckydog, we have consistently been at the forefront of addressing these concerns, actively engaging with veterinary health professionals to ensure our care practices meet the highest standards.
Our recent initiatives include:
Focused Team Education: We have initiated an in-depth educational program for our staff, led by a respected local veterinarian, to deepen our understanding of disease transmission and the importance of our health protocols. Education is key to maintaining a safe environment, and we are proud to be working with a community leader in veterinary medicine.
Enhanced Air Quality Measures: With a dedication to the safety of our furry guests, we have proactively installed high-efficiency commercial air scrubbers across our facility. This significant investment was decided upon and implemented at a time when a reduction in case reports began to emerge in early October. This step, indicative of our ongoing commitment to safety, adds another layer of protection to our comprehensive health measures, ensuring that we continue to foster the safest possible environment for your dogs.
Community Health Trends: Despite thorough investigations by state health officials, the exact cause of this illness has not yet been identified, as confirmed by the state veterinarian’s announcement in late September. While investigations are ongoing to identify the causative agent we will maintain our current vaccination requirements and modify them, if needed, as new information comes to light. A prominent, local, small animal practice has reported a major drop in cases in recent weeks, a trend that is echoed by other health practitioners in the area as well as Luckydog. We are also encouraged by the continued patronage of veterinarian clients who entrust their pets to our care.
As we navigate through these times of uncertainty, we understand and respect your need to make well-informed decisions based on the advice of your veterinary professionals. Our commitment to the health and well-being of your dogs is unwavering, and we remain steadfast in our approach, which is rooted in scientific best practices.
Thank you for your continued trust in Luckydog. Together, we’ll work to ensure that every stay is as safe as possible and an enjoyable experience for your dogs.
